About

Well, a journey of a million words about this season of Red Sox baseball for 2009 begins with the first sentence. I’m Jeff Wellman, and this is also my first jump into the blog-o-sphere. I’m passionate about the Red Sox and have been since I was 9 (over 20 seasons now). However, I’m equally thrilled by any two teams playing the game well. Watching to see a home run only is for NASCAR fans. Yeah, offense is exciting but well played baseball is a strategic art. If you’re bored by baseball, you don’t get the soul of it. You either get it or you don’t.
Great pitching and stellar defense do win teams championships, but they are also amazing to watch everyday. You don’t have to wait for October, its on display for 162 games between now and then.
I love it when people agree with my take on a game but I am helped out far more when you challenge my view. Its better if you keep it constructive, but if not, I admire your fire. I hate the Yankee organization as an entity, but I take the players on their own merits as individuals. I love the Sox, but admit they have feet of clay. The attempt is to give credit where it’s due, celebrate this season, and hope that it culminates in a 3rd World Championship for Boston in this decade and new century.
